Third-year Syracuse University College of Law student Gregory D. Eriksen wrote his way to national recognition and received the 2010 Burton Award for Distinguished Legal Writing. The annual award recognizes law students and practitioners for exceptional writing. He will attend a June celebration at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C., to recognize his work.
His work, “Breaking Wind, Fixing Wind: Facilitating Wind Energy Development in New York State,” was published in Volume 60, Book 1 of the Syracuse Law Review and was one of only 15 selected in the nation.
Eriksen is a member of the Syracuse Law Review and serves on the publication as its business editor. He is also a member of Moot Court and the Justinian Honorary Law Society, and has been awarded dean’s list recognition.
The Burton Awards were established by William C. Burton in 1999 to reward practitioners and law school students “who use plain, clear and concise language and avoid archaic, stilted legalese.”
