Dean of the School of Education on Proposed Cuts to the Department of Education

The Trump Administration has proposed a 13.5% decrease in funding to the Department of Education, with the cuts spread across K-12 and aid to higher education. Dean Joanna Masingila is available to speak to media about these cuts, especially those directed at teacher training.

“I am particularly concerned that President Trump’s proposed budget eliminates Title II-A of the Every Student Succeeds Act and Title II of the Higher Education Act. These two programs are essential to providing an effective education for each student across the nation, as they invest in the development of and support for the profession that delivers on that commitment. As the President of the New York Association of Colleges for Teacher Education, I signed onto a letter in early May that supports maintaining funding for these Title II programs along with 140 other organizations and state affiliates.”
