The United States is in a complicated situation regarding a citizen suspected of being an ISIS fighter. The government legally cannot hold the citizen, but because of a lack off evidence, cannot charge the suspect as well. In a Washington Post article, Syracuse Institute for National Security and Counterterrorsim Director William Banks commented on the issue in regards to what may happen if the citizen does not end up being charged.
“It’s time now to wonder whether the Trump administration is thinking of doing something different,” he said, calling into question the steps moving forwards if a legal arrest is not made due to lack of evidence.
