“UV lights helping stop the spread of coronavirus”

, professor of physics in the College of Arts and Sciences and interim director of the Center of Excellence, was interviewed by CNY Central for the story “.” Schiff studies solar cell device physics and says there have been extensive studies on UV lights’ ability to kill COVID 19. “Any air that circulates through the UV system in those fixtures, all the COVID in the air is pretty much killed,” says Schiff. He is optimistic that UV lights could be a solution moving forward in helping restaurants and bars stay open during future pandemics.
