Actor/writer/director/producer Lawrence-Hilton Jacobs will visit Syracuse University’s Feb. 29 for the 11th annual Conversation on Race and Entertainment Media. The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Halmi Screening Room, 141 Newhouse 3. Parking is available in SU pay lots. Follow the talk on Twitter at #RaceEntMedia.
Jacobs has worked in the industry for more than four decades, with credits including Broadway, feature film, television, music video and documentary.
He starred in the films “Claudine” and “Cooley High,” and played the iconic Freddy “Boom Boom” Washington on ABC’s hit series “Welcome Back, Kotter.” He earned acclaim for his portrayal of Joe Jackson in the biopic “The Jacksons: An American Dream.”
Hosted by Newhouse professor of practice Richard Dubin, the annual Conversation on Race and Entertainment Media is an opportunity for SU students, faculty and staff, and members of the Syracuse community to come together and discuss the ecology of race and television with Hollywood insiders.
