Carnegie Library reopened for the fall semester Aug. 21 after being closed during the summer for ongoing renovation work. This long-term renovation project, managed by the Syracuse University Libraries and the University’s Office of Campus Planning, Design and Construction, will upgrade Carnegie Library for contemporary use and provide needed silent, individualized study space in the Reading Room.
Projects under way this fall include:
To allow sufficient time to complete this critical work, the Carnegie Reading Room will remain closed until January 2014. For the fall 2013 semester, the libraries are providing services on Carnegie’s first floor, and Room 103 will serve as a temporary reading room.
The libraries are planning a spring 2014 grand opening for the Reading Room, and will share more information about its reopening and other building renovations throughout the fall 2013 semester.
