Tickets for the general public are $10, available at the door and payable by cash only. Admission is free for Syracuse University students with a valid SU I.D. The running time of each performance is approximately one hour and 15 minutes.
“Dido and Aeneas” is a masterwork of early Baroque opera. The story is freely adapted from an episode in Virgil’s “Aeneid” and concerns the doomed love of Dido, queen of Carthage, for Aeneas, prince of Troy. Despite the mythological subject matter, the libretto is psychologically astute and continues to speak to contemporary audiences. The score features some of Purcell’s most tuneful writing, culminating with Dido’s great aria “When I Am Laid in Earth.”
For most Setnor Auditorium events, free and accessible parking is available in the Q1 lot. Additional parking is available in the Irving Garage. Campus parking availability is subject to change; call 315-443-2191 for current information or for more information about the opera.
