Hendricks Chapel will host an appreciation service for the Rev. Richard W. Hill, founder and chaplain for the Historically Black Church Campus Ministry. Hill founded the campus ministry 10 years ago and has served as the chaplain since its founding. The service is Wednesday, Feb. 25. at 9 p.m. in Hendricks Chapel.
“Hendricks Chapel is so appreciative for all that Rev. Hill has done over the course of more than 10 years,” says Tiffany Steinwert, dean of Hendricks Chapel. “His leadership and service to his church and our students has been immense and we are grateful for the strong foundation he has built for the Historically Black Church Campus Ministry.”
Hill received his bachelor’s degree from SUNY Oswego and his master of divinity degree from Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School. He completed his doctor of ministry from Ashland Theological Seminary. Hill founded his own church, Word of Life Bible Fellowship, in 2007.
With Hill’s departure, the Historically Black Church Campus Ministry will be sponsored by the African Methodist Episcopal Church and receive two new chaplains, the Revs. Stephanie and Pedro Castro. The Castros have launched a new worship service on Wednesdays from 9-10 p.m. in the main chapel of Hendricks Chapel.
“We hope the campus community will join us in honoring Reverend Hill and welcoming two new chaplains to Syracuse University,” says Steinwert.
