Rabbi Brad Hirschfield will lead a lunchtime discussion on “How Big Is Your God? Religious Pluralism in an Age of Increasing Extremism” on Tuesday, March 1, in the Noble Room in Syracuse University’s Hendricks Chapel.
Lunch will be served at noon, and the conversation will begin at 12:30 p.m. The event is open to the public; reservations are required for lunch. Kosher and vegetarian Halal lunch options will be provided for reservations made by Thursday, Feb. 24, to eacronk@syr.edu or 443-2902. Individuals who make reservations after Feb. 24 will be able to purchase their own lunches.
The event is sponsored by Hendricks Chapel, Hillel at Syracuse University, The College of Arts and Sciences’ “Stem Cells and Society” course (with funding from the New York State Department of Health), Congregation Beth Sholom-Chevra Shas and SU’s Judaic Studies Program.
Hirschfield is the president of Clal—The National Jewish Center for Learning and Leadership, a leadership training institute think tank and resource center committed to religious pluralism and the healthier use of religion in American public life.
He has been listed as one of America’s “50 Most Influential Rabbis” for three years in a row by Newsweek magazine and has been recognized as one of the nation’s leading “Preachers and Teachers” by Beliefnet.com. He is the author of “You Don’t Have to Wrong For Me to Be Right: Finding Faith Without Fanaticism” (Harmony, 2008).
