Syracuse University’s (VPA) and VPA’s Rose, Jules R. and Stanford S. Setnor School of Music will host a concert by the Syracuse Symphony Youth Orchestra (SSYO) on Sunday, May 22, at 4 p.m. in Goldstein Auditorium in the Hildegarde and J. Myer Schine Student Center. The concert is free and open to the public. Parking is available in SU pay lots.
The concert will also feature the Syracuse Symphony Youth String Orchestra (SSYSO). The SU performance is the final concert of the orchestra’s 2010-11 season. It was previously scheduled for May 15 at the Civic Center.
The SSYO will perform under the direction of conductor James R. Tapia, who is also an associate professor and interim co-director of the Setnor School of Music. The program will include the Sibelius Symphony No. 2 in D Major, Op. 43.
The SSYO is made up of 90 musicians from Central New York; the SSYSO has 70 members.
