The Carnegie Religion and Media Program in the will host a public conversation on “Religion and Politics: How Much is Too Much” with Rabbi Brad Hirschfield on Monday, Nov. 28, at 10:35 a.m. in the Peter Graham Scholarly Commons in Bird Library.
The event is free and open to the public.
Hirschfield, an Orthodox rabbi, is president of CLAL—The National Jewish Center for Leadership and Learning in New York City, a leadership training institute, think tank and resource center committed to religious pluralism and the healthier use of religion in American public life. He offers a unique perspective on the American spiritual landscape and political and social trends to audiences nationwide.
A former activist in the West Bank, Hirschfield was committed to reconstituting the Jewish state within its biblical borders. Now an Orthodox rabbi, he is devoted to teaching inclusiveness, celebrating diversity and promoting acceptance.
Hirschfield was listed for many years in Newsweek as one of America’s “50 Most Influential Rabbis,” recognized as one the nation’s leading “Preachers & Teachers,” by Beliefnet.com and is a Fox News regular contributor and Washington Post blogger. He is the author of “You Don’t Have To Be Wrong For Me To Be Right: Finding Faith Without Fanaticism” (Harmony, 2008).
