The Syracuse University Women’s Choir will host a concert featuring the Pine Grove Girl Choir of Pine Grove Middle School in East Syracuse on Thursday, March 1, at 7:30 p.m. in the Rose and Jules R. Setnor Auditorium, Crouse College. The concert is free and open to the public. Free parking is available in the Irving Garage; patrons should mention that they are attending the event. Parking for patrons with disabilities is available in the Q1 lot.
The SU Women’s Choir performs under the direction of Barbara M. Tagg, faculty member in the Rose, Jules R. and Stanford S. Setnor School of Music in SU’s (VPA). The choir’s repertoire will include “Domine Deus” by J. S. Bach, Lux Aeterna (Eternal Light) by Michelle Roueché, “This Little Light of Mine” arranged by Ysaye Barnwell and “Lay Earth’s Burden Down” by Paul Caldwell and Sean Ivory.
Directed by Aimee deBerjeois, the Pine Grove Girl Choir will present “Viva la Musica” by Mark Weston, “When I Close My Eyes” by Jim Papoulis, “Al Shlosha D’Varim” by Allan E. Naplan and “Lollipop,” the 1950s hit tune by the Chordettes.
The two choirs will combine for the concert finale, which includes Lowell Mason’s “O Music” and “Amazing Grace” arranged by Francisco Núñez.
The SU Women’s Choir includes undergraduate and graduate music majors from the Setnor School of Music and students from a variety of other majors and schools across campus.
