Rhythm and Roots performance will be Friday

Better Together Syracuse and the Office of Engagement Programs in Hendricks Chapel will present a Rhythm and Roots concert, “We Are The Americas,” on Friday, March 30, at 4:30 p.m. at the Alibrandi Catholic Center, 110 Walnut Place.

The event is free and open to the public; a short reception will follow. Free parking will be available in the University Avenue Garage.

The event will feature performances of poetry, movement and West African and Afro-Caribbean rhythms by Rhythm and Roots, joint University and community drum ensemble of performers from SU and Westside Academy at Blodgett. The ensemble has worked together over the past 12 weeks to explore the role of music in building bridges across differences. The concert will bring this music and experience to life.

The ensemble is directed by Nisha Purushotham, visiting lecturer and director of the Rhythm and Roots Project.
