Community members have many opportunities to see—and participate in—the “Common Ground for Peace” events Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 8 and 9, at Syracuse University involving His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
While seating is at capacity for Monday’s symposium panels in the Schine Student Center’s Goldstein Auditorium, a webcast of each panel discussion—“The Democracy Movement in the Middle East” from 9-11 a.m. and “Shifting the Global Consciousness” from 1:30-3:30—will be streamed live at .
Also, several closed-circuit viewing locations have been set up on campus: Room 010 in Crouse Hinds Hall; Whitman School of Management’s Flaum Grand Hall; Joyce Hergenhan Auditorium in Newhouse 3; Room 273 in Newhouse 2; the Inn Complete on South Campus; and Kimmel Dining Center.
Those attending the panels and others watching remotely via the live video will have an opportunity to submit questions for the panelists by email to or by Twitter using the hashtag #CGPDemocracy for the morning discussion and #CGPGlobal for the afternoon discussion. Questions will be collected during the first hour of each session, and a selection will be posed to the panelists during the discussion period.
Syracuse University will be live tweeting throughout the day, and Twitter users are encouraged to use these same hashtags (#CGPDemocracy for the morning event and #CGPGlobal for the afternoon event) to contribute to the online conversation.
During and after the panels, event photos will be posted to SU’s and accounts and to several SU Facebook pages: , and .
Live Twitter commentary on Tuesday’s One World Concert in the Carrier Dome (7-11 p.m.)—featuring a public address by the Dalai Lama followed by performances by an array of international musicians—can be followed via the hashtag #oneworldconcert.
Tickets to the One World Concert—$35, $55, $55—are available at the Carrier Dome Box Office; by phone at 888-DOMETIX (366-3849); or online at .
