The industrial and interaction design (IID) program in the ’ Department of Design is presenting the degree-culminating thesis work of 17 fifth-year seniors through March 24 at XL Projects, 307-313 S. Clinton St., Syracuse. The exhibition is free and open to the public.
The work draws on a spectrum of design practices, from speculative projects that provoke future imagination to projects that critically frame the very idea of making and designing and to objects created for mass production. From the experiential to the quantitative, from the academic to the commercial or from the theoretical to the practical, the work presents us with things that channel our inquisitiveness, curiosity and optimism about the world.
A closing reception will be held on Saturday, March 23, from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Regular gallery hours are Wednesday through Sunday, noon-6 p.m. The gallery will also be open Thursday, March 21, from 5-8 p.m. in conjunction with Third Thursday (Th3).
For more information about the exhibition, contact Denise Heckman, associate professor and IID program coordinator, at daheckma@syr.edu. XL Projects may be contacted at 315-442-2542 during gallery hours or contact Andrew Havenhand at ahavenhand@yahoo.com.
