Lee McKnight, an associate professor in the iSchool, was interviewed by syracuse.com for the article “” A Norwegian data-mining company,Unacast Inc., used its cellphone data to grade communities on social distancing, including Syracuse. Professor McKnight says that the company has great data and that “they know how to organize it to provide advice on shopping, which is what their business largely was until this came out. But they’re not public health experts.”
