Roy Gutterman, associate professor of magazine, news and digital journalism in the Newhouse School and director of the Tully Center for Free Speech, was interviewed by Spectrum News for the story “” Gutterman says that the current push to confirm a new justice reflects a change of rules after President Barack Obama was held back by the Senate from confirming a new justice in 2016. “If you change the rules, you have to remain consistent; if you don’t, it opens up questions about procedure and fairness,” says Gutterman.
